Do I need to use the AXS Mobile App to use SRAM eTap AXS Wireless Blips?

eTap AXS Wireless Blips can be paired with the other components without the help of the AXS app. When pairing Wireless Blips into the AXS system, the first Blip will be assigned as an outboard shift, the second Blip will be assigned as an inboard shift, and pressing both simultaneously will shift the front
derailleur.
The AXS app will be required to customize controls, update the firmware, and check battery life.
