Programming

  • Is RED eTap software or firmware open source? Can I get into the code and tweak it to make it work with 10-speed or change the shift speed at different points in the rear derailleur’s sweep? plus icon minus icon
  • No. It is a closed system. The RED eTap is not programmable.  See more
  • Can I set up the SRAM RED eTap 2x11 system to do sequential shifting? plus icon minus icon
  • No. The rider always controls the front derailleur. See more
  • Can I customize the shifter paddle or blip operation? E.g. have the left paddle shift up or connect two blips to one shifter and have each blip shift in a different direction? plus icon minus icon
  • No. It is a closed system. The RED eTap 2x11 system is not programmable.  Note: SRAM AXS controllers that are paired to 11-speed SRAM Red eTap derailleurs will not be configurable in the AXS app See more
  • Will the blips only perform the same shifting operation as the shifter they are connected to for eTap 2x11? plus icon minus icon
  • Yes, just like a mechanical system. See more
  • Can I hold down the eTap 2x11 shift lever to do a rear multi-shift? plus icon minus icon
  • Yes. When you let go of the lever the derailleur stops. See more
  • Can I program the shift speed? plus icon minus icon
  • No. We’ve optimized RED eTap 2x11 for ideal shifting performance.  See more
  • Can you program in automatic rear compensation shifts when making front chainring selections? i.e. shifting to the small ring and simultaneously shifting into a smaller rear cog? plus icon minus icon
  • No. The RED eTap 2x11 system is not programmable. See more
  • Will SRAM make periodic eTap 2x11 firmware updates? plus icon minus icon
  • There are no planned regular updates.  See more
  • Does the eTap 2x11 front derailleur know where in the pedal stroke I am and time the shift accordingly for optimal shifting? plus icon minus icon
  • No. The derailleur is not intuitive, shifts happen mechanically when you activate the shifter. See more
  • Does SRAM make a head unit that is compatible with SRAM RED eTap? plus icon minus icon
  • No, SRAM does not make a compatible head unit at this time. See more
  • Can the SRAM RED eTap 2x11 components communicate with my iOS or Android device? plus icon minus icon
  • No, the system cannot communicate with smart devices at this time. See more
  • Can I record and display my gear selection on a head unit throughout different points in a ride? plus icon minus icon
  • The eTap system provides this information, but it is up to the head unit maker to capture and record it. SRAM does not make a compatible head unit at this time. See more
  • Can Quarq power meter data be combined with gear selection data using SRAM or Quarq software when using SRAM RED eTap 2x11? plus icon minus icon
