Replacing the cage and damper assembly on Eagle Transmission is easier than you might think! You can see the images below or reference the manual here for information on this process. You can also use the cage and damper assembly from any other Eagle Transmission model as a replacement, so if you want to upgrade to the lighter carbon XX SL cage or if your local dealer only happens to have X0 in stock, you are free to use whichever version you want!
SRAM also offers the cage and pulley assembly without the damper assembly. This process is a little more involved, but this process is well documented in the manual here. There are two options available: a carbon cage with Magic Pulley wheels, part number 11.7518.104.023, and a black alloy cage with standard pulleys, part number 11.7518.104.024. These cage assemblies both include the 3mm security hex bit required to perform this service. Please follow the instructions in the manual exactly as written to avoid unwinding the damper spring or pinching your fingers.
