SRAM DOT brakes use a compression fitting at the hose and lever assembly. During installation, it's crucial to torque the compression nut to 8Nm. When this step is missed, fluid cannot pass from the master cylinder into the hose, preventing the lever from moving.
If you have recently shortened your brake hose, ensure that a new Stealth-a-majig hose barb and compression fitting are installed.
Step-by-step instructions, as well as the tools and supplies required for this process, are outlined in the DOT Fluid MTB Disc Brake Hose Shortening and Bleed Manual.
