Follow the steps below to learn what Enhanced Shift Mode and Multishift are and the steps to enable them on eTap AXS, and Eagle AXS systems using the AXS Mobile App.
BEFORE YOU START
UNDERSTANDING YOUR AXS DRIVETRAIN SETTINGS
Sequential Shift Mode simplifies the shifting experience by automatically controlling the front and rear derailleur as you upshift or downshift through the gearing range. Using only the left or right shifter buttons, the system controls the shift behavior of both derailleurs to keep the changes in gear ratio smooth and cadence consistent. Pressing one controller makes the gearing easier, the other harder, it’s that simple.
Compensating Shift Mode smooths gear transitions when a front gear change is performed by shifting the rear derailleur 1 or 2 cogs to compensate for the large change in ratio.
Multishift lets you customize the number of upshifts and downshifts that occur when holding a shift button down – configurable to one, two, three, or the entire gear range.
NOTICE: To protect your AXS components from damage and preserve the warranty, multi-shift functionality must not be used when installed on e-Bike/Pedelec style bicycles.
ACCESSING YOUR DRIVETRAIN SETTINGS
1) Open the AXS Mobile App. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled and that your phone is connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network.
2) Lightly shake your bike or press and release the component’s AXS button to wake them from sleep mode. AXS buttons can be found next to the AXS logo on any AXS component.
NOTICE: The button action required to wake an AXS component is a single Press-and-Release. Do NOT Press-and-Hold the AXS button to wake components. If a component no longer shifts or actuates after pressing the AXS button, complete the AXS System Pairing Process to re-establish function.
3) Select [Connect]. Allow 5-10 seconds for the app to connect.
Tech Tip: There can only be one primary component per bike system and that component is the AXS rear derailleur. The one exception is that a Reverb AXS seatpost should be the primary component of a system when an AXS rear derailleur is not present. For pairing instruction, see our article: How do I pair my AXS components together?
4) Select [Drivetrain Settings]
ENHANCED SHIFT MODE
Enhanced mode allows you to enable Sequential or Compensating shift modes.
5) Toggle Enhanced Mode [On]
6) Select the cassette size you are using from the available options. The cassette determines the shift points used by Sequential and Compensating shift modes.
7) Choose Compensating or Sequential shift mode. Select [More] for additional shift mode information. Drivetrain settings are automatically saved once selected.
MULTISHIFT MODE
Multishift can be used independently or in combination with Compensating or Sequential shift modes.
8) Toggle Multishift [On]. Select the desired number of cogs for upshift and downshift. Drivetrain settings are automatically saved once selected.
NOTICE: To protect your AXS components from damage and preserve the warranty, multi-shift functionality must not be used when installed on e-Bike/Pedelec style bicycles.
NOTICE: If after changing your drivetrain settings, a component no longer shifts or actuates, the wireless link between components may have been inadvertently disconnected. If you are experiencing this, please complete the AXS System Pairing Process to re-establish function.
